Plans have been unveiled for a new development at the historic former Horlicks factory site in Slough.

Berkeley Homes wants to restore the iconic factory building and develop a new neighbourhood around it after it bought the site in autumn last year.

Land director Elkie Lees said the 12.77-acre site is in a “prime location”, within a short walk of Slough railway station and the new Crossrail services, adding the development will mark a “new chapter” for the site.

She said: “This will be a new chapter for the Horlicks site and we are delighted to be working within such an exciting town.

“Slough Borough Council is driving an ambitious regeneration programme and we look forward to collaborating with the council and local residents to shape a fantastic new part of the community.

Slough Observer:

“Slough has a great deal to offer. Town centre investment is well underway, the local economy is thriving and Crossrail will soon deliver another vital transport link.

“It’s a great place to do business with clear demand for new housing.

“Berkeley Homes plans to restore the iconic Horlicks factory building and develop a new neighbourhood around this.

“Placemaking is a fundamental part of any Berkeley development and the Horlicks Factory won’t be an exception to that.”

The firm hosted a public exhibition, unveiling the plans to residents on April 16 at The Curve.

Ms Lees said the event was “well-attended”, adding: “It was great to hear the views and aspirations of locals for the site.”

Another exhibition will be held on Tuesday, April 23, between 3pm and 7.30pm at The Curve.
