Slough MP Tan Dhesi has pledged his support to a campaign launched by mental health charity Mind.

The ‘Brick by Brick’ campaign was launched after the charity investigated the link between poor housing conditions and poor mental health. As a result of the investigation, the charity launched the campaign to ‘build a housing system with mental health at its heart’.

Having pledged his support to the campaign, Tan Dhesi said: “I was glad to attend this important event and intrigued to hear about people affected by poor mental health. Around one in four people in Slough will experience a mental health problem in any given year. Previous research by Mind found more than two in five people with mental health problems living in social housing have seen their mental health deteriorate because of where they live.”

“I’m committed to working with our Council to do all that we can to transform this, so that everyone in Slough gets the information, advice and access to the housing that they need and deserve, to help people recover and stay well. In order to prevent things from going wrong, it’s vital we collectively go ‘Beyond Bricks’.”
