A group of aspiring film-makers have received accreditation from the British Film Institute having completed produced their own short films at Pinewood Studios.

48 youngsters experienced life on set having been set the challenge of writing their own scripts before having just four hours to shoot their short films. Attendees filled several roles pivotal to the making of any motion picture, including sound recordists, cinematographers, producers and directors.

The BFI Film Academy works to offer training for roles across the film industry, from directing and writing through to the latter stages of production, sound design and editing.

To celebrate the achievements of those who took part, The Curve hosted a special graduation ceremony, where the films were showcased, and certificates were handed out.

Andrew Smith, Corporate Affairs Director at Pinewood Studios, said:

The BFI Film Academy is a brilliant opportunity for young people in the local area to enter into the industry. Developing the next generation of filmmaking talent is key to sustaining the success of the creative industries, and it’s something that we at Pinewood and Shepperton Studios are delighted to support.”
