A consultation into the future of bus transport in Langley closes soon, with residents urged to put their views forward.

Phase two of the Slough Mass Rapid Transit scheme concerns the stretch between Langley High Street and the A4 London Road junction to the M4 junction five roundabout.

The first phase of the scheme was completed in 2017 and focussed on the area from Dover Road to Langley High Street. The work was done in order to provide commuters with a more frequent and quicker journey for commuters travelling on the A4 Bath Road.

Slough Borough Council now plan on extending the scheme to encourage ‘sustainable transport’ for commuters who are travelling between Slough Trading Estate, Slough Train Station, Langley and Heathrow airport.

Works that is proposed in the following areas are:

High Street Langley and the A4 London Road junction to the junction five roundabout:

• Enhancements to the northern frontage of the A4 between Langley High Street and the Langley Interchange to enhance the ‘gateway’ to Slough.

• Improvements to the bus stop.

• Changes to signs and lines on approaches.

• Widening the south east quadrant of the junction five roundabout from three to four lanes with modifications to the slip road for eastbound traffic.

• Creating a second lane on London Road on the westbound approach to the M4 junction five.

Sutton Lane and A4 London Road junction

• Modifying the London Road / Sutton Lane / Colnbrook Bypass gyratory. Pedestrian and cycle crossings on London Road to be improved with the bus stop waiting areas also being upgraded.

• To the east of the Colnbrook Bypass, safety works, enhancing bus stops at Lakeside Road and carriageway realignment.

• A new Park and Ride facility which will include a cycle hub facility aimed at reducing congestion in the own.

• Junction improvement works for access to the new cycle hub facility.

• New smart controlled signals at the junctions of the Sutton Lane gyratory.

• Extending the existing eastbound bus lane from Langley High Street towards Heathrow.

• Localised changes to signs and lines on approaches.
