A busy road is closed after a lorry ignored the height restriction of a railway bridge and tried to drive under it, damaging part of the bridge.

Burnham Lane, under Burnham Bridge, going southbound towards the A4, is still closed after the lorry hit it last night (Monday).

Thames Valley Police said the lorry was 12’8” trying to get under the 12’3” bridge.

Slough Borough Council said the road will only reopen if Network Rail considers it safe following its inspection.

A diversion is in place via Dover Road and the A4.
