EVERY Woodley school has been given a life-saving gift in memory of a girl who tragically died last year.

Claire Page has donated a defibrillator to all secondary and primary schools in the town through the Lilly-May Page Trust, which she created after her five-year-old daughter died from a cardiac arrest in May 2014.

She gave herself the mission of putting the equipment into the schools before the February half term and visited Waingels College, in Waingels Road, and Woodley CofE Primary School, in Hurricane Way, last Wednesday to complete her donations.

Through her friend and first aider Rory Davies, Miss Page is offering training to all staff and teachers to ensure they can use the equipment.

She has also donated a defibrillator to the Oakwood Centre, in Headley Road, where the town council runs its meetings and to the Emmanuel Church, in Southlake Crescent.

Wokingham Borough and Town Council leader Keith Baker said: “I think it’s a fantastic achievement, driven by an exceptional woman who I am full of admiration for.

“We’ve gone from a situation where we had very few defibrillators around to a huge, wide, coverage which can only be a good thing.

“I cannot wait to learn how it can be used and we will be seeing another put up in the precinct, thanks to the Woodley and Earley Lions Club.”
