AN AIR ambulance reportedly had to land in a school field, after a man cut himself with a chainsaw.

South Central Ambulance Service confirmed its crews rushed to the scene when the 61-year-old victim, from Danywern Drive, Winnersh, had cut his arm whilst operating the heavy machinery at home.

The call came in at 2:20pm and immediately an ambulance crew and an air ambulance were scrambled to the scene.

Pictures appear to show the air ambulance landing in a nearby secondary school field, at The Forest School.

South Central Ambulance Service confirmed the man was assessed at the scene and taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital for further treatment.

His injuries were not believed to be life-changing according to the service.

A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service said: "the air ambulance team were called to an incident a short distance away at a property on Danywern Drive, after a 61-year-old male had accidentally cut his arm whilst using a chainsaw (we received a 999 call about that incident at 14:20).

"As well as the air ambulance, we had an ambulance crew at the incident and following initial treatment at the scene, he was then taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital for further treatment. It is not thought that the injury is too serious or life-changing."
