Wokingham general election 2019 candidates take on Phillip Lee and John Redwood

The candidates for Wokingham have been announced and there are some familiar names on the shortlist.

Here’s who’s vying for your vote on December 12.

Kizzi Johannessen (The Green Party)

Kizzi was born in Reading and studied counselling psychotherapy at university.

She works as a therapist in Wokingham having moved back to Reading in 2009 and now lives in Winnersh.

The Green Party candidate stood for selection in Reading East in the 2017 general election.

Phillip Lee (Liberal Democrats)

Phillip Lee was Bracknell’s MP for nine years between 2010 and 2019.

He switched from the Conservative Party to the Liberal Democrats in September this year.

Mr Lee, who lives in Maidenhead, is a qualified GP having studied medicine at university and served as a justice minister in Theresa May’s government.

Annette Medhurst (Labour)

The Labour candidate for Wokingham moved to Woosehill five years ago.

She is a trustee at a pre-school and a governor at her daughter’s school.

Annette studied medical biochemistry having completed her PhD at Kings College and worked in cancer research in London, Amsterdam and Oxford.

Annabel Mullin (Advance Together)

Annabel co-founded Advance Together and merged with Renew UK in 2018.

She was a European election candidate for the Independent Group For Change earlier this year, having been the Lib Dems’ selection for Kensington in the 2017 general election.

Ms Mullin, whose address is in Vauxhall, is a magistrate and has worked in mental health and as a police officer.

John Redwood (Conservative Party)

Mr Redwood has served as the Conservative MP for Wokingham since 1987.

He was formerly secretary of state for Wales in John Major’s government.

The Conservative candidate lives in Finchampstead.
