SUPPORTERS of a centre that provides space for the elderly for a day attended a dinner party while raising funds to refurbish the centres kitchen.

The WADE day centre in Wokingham hosted the ‘Spring into Summer’ dinner and dance night at The Coppid Beech Hotel in Bracknell.

The evening raised over £6,000, which will go towards refurbishing the kitchen that is essential for providing hot meals for members of the day centre.

Jackie Wilson chair of trustees at WADE, said: 'Wade provides up to 55 meals a day for our local elderly community, it is crucial that our kitchen is kept up to date to comply with Health and Safety regulations, and to be able to produce high quality, nourishing midday meals for our clients, for most of whom this is their only cooked meal of the day."

Comedian Adger Brown kept everyone entertained and he also hosted an auction to help raise funds.

Musical entertainment was provided by an Ian Gallagher tribute singer.
