A NEW bar has announced it will be opening at the start of May in the Peach Place square development site in Wokingham.

The Sit & Sip Tasting Room will offer different beers and spirits and will be opening on Friday, May 3.

38-year-old James Mattingley owns Sit & Sip Tasting Room alongside his farther.

Mr Mattingley is excited that they can now announce the bars opening date.

He said: “The Peach Place open day went really well and gave people a taste of what they can expect from the regeneration.

“Now we can confirm we will open Sit & Sip on May 3. We are so excited to be opening our second branch of Sit & Sip in Wokingham, and to be a part of such a huge chapter in the town’s history.

“Sit & Sip is all about the tasting experience and offering something new. We want to add something really different to the town by bringing a taste of beers, spirits and food that has been created either locally or by smaller producers in the UK.

“We really cannot wait to welcome people to the Tasting Room on May 3.”

James recently said that he thinks the regeneration will improve the infrastructure of the town.

He added: “As someone who has either lived in or near Wokingham for so long, I have seen how its developed with all of the new housing, but it has fallen behind in other ways.

“The population has grown but the infrastructure hasn’t caught up.

“That’s what the regeneration is doing, it’s about offering something to residents that matches what Wokingham is all about.”
