THE POST office in Wokingham is set to relocate into WHSmith following a public consultation.

The post office will move from Broad Street into the WHSmith store in Market Place, where it will be operated by the shop.

The new branch will open at 8.30am on Thursday, June 6 and will be incorporated alongside a retail offer of stationery, gifts and greeting cards.

Roger Gale, the network and sales director believes that the change will help ensure the branch is commercially viable and protect post office services.

He said: “The Post Office is committed to keeping our services at the heart of communities which we know is hugely important to people.

“This change means we can continue to do that, into the future. We are making sure we take the right action to sustain services for years to come.”

The new post office will have a total of three serving positions and two self-services kiosks.

Services will be available seven days a week from 8.30am to 6pm on Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.30pm on Saturdays and 10am to 2pm on Sundays.

The current Wokingham branch will close on Wednesday 5 June later this year.
