NEW payment machines are will be coming to all Wokingham Borough Council car parks this summer.

The machines will give customers more flexibility to pay by coin or card and to pay for the time they used.

The new screens will all be digital and will allow customers to pay for the number of hours as normal or pre-authorise a payment with the ‘check in – check out’ system.

Sarah Hollamby, director of locality and customer services, said: “The new car park payment machines will give our residents a great new option when using our car parks.

“To check in with a debit or credit card and then check out whenever they want to leave and only pay for the exact amount of time they are actually using the car park.

“The new machines allow you to run your errands and then if you bump into a friend and want to go for a coffee you won’t have to worry about getting a parking ticket.”

Cockpit car park in the town centre is the first council car park to get the new machines, with two set to arrive this week.

The machines will have step by step instructions and are set to be in all council car parks by July this year.
