FOR the first time the Wokingham Festival will last for three days with the extra day focusing on classic and progressive rock genres.

Stan Hetherington the organiser of the event has teamed up with Chris Hillman the founder of White Star Records and Magick Eye Records to celebrate classic rock on day 3 of the festival.

Chris believes the festival has always had a good atmosphere and is happy to be involved in the event.

He said: ‘I’ve been to Stan’s Wokingham Festival in the past and have always been impressed with the very good organisation and atmosphere.

“I was therefore more than happy to accept when Stan asked me if I’d help him create a new extra day for the festival this year featuring some of our artists. It's wonderful to be involved with the event.”

All the performing acts have been hand picked by Stan and Chris, which will include Martin Turner’s Wishbone who will headline the festivals additional date. They will be joined by Flutatious who are returning to the stage following a successful attendance last year.

Acts will also include the UK based progressive rock trio Kepler Ten as well as R2 who are a tribute band to the influential rock band Rush.

Stan added: “It’s great to have respected and growing record labels such as White Star Records based in Wokingham.

"To be able to work with Chris and the team there to create a new day at the festival featuring some of their artists with other rock and prog acts that have appeared at the Wokingham Music Festival previously is very exciting."

The Berkshire based four-piece band The Paradox Twin will also be making an appearance, their debut album ‘The Importance of Mr Bedlam’ was released via White Star Records in 2018.

The last act to be announced in the line-up is Reading-based rock sextet The Room who are one of White Star Records latest signings. They joined the label last year before releasing their third studio album ‘Caught By The Machine’ on Friday, February 22.

The festival takes place from August 24 to the 26, with the third day taking place on Monday, August 26.

Other second stage bands are yet to be announced for the day three extension.
