WOKINGHAM Borough Mayor thanks charity representatives for their commitment during a networking event, including Woodley based Me2 Club.

The Mayor’s Voluntary Sector Reception was hosted at the Oakwood Centre on Monday, February 11.

It provided an opportunity for charity representatives to network, meet new people and the Mayor the chance to thank volunteers for the commitment they make to the Wokingham Borough.

Councillor John Kaiser, Wokingham Borough Mayor, said: “During my year in office, I’ve had the honour to attend many community events and I’ve met so many unsung heroes.

“There are so many volunteers in our community who go above and beyond to help others less fortunate than ourselves. Many help in their spare time and with limited resources. “

Liz McDaniel from The Woodley-based Me2 Club gave a speech to attendees, they support young people with additional needs and disabilities from the Wokingham Borough.

The charity recruit and train volunteers to support people in activities such as gymnastics and swimming.

Cllr John Kaiser added: “I am so pleased so many volunteers could join me at the reception.

"I would like to publicly thank them for their contribution to our community, which helps make Wokingham Borough such a great place to live and work.”
