HUNDREDS of residents in Wokingham took part in a Santa Dash to raise money for a charity at the weekend.

Residents dressed up as Santa this weekend and took part in the Wokingham Santa Dash at Dinton Country Park in Wokingham.

This is the third year runners have taken part in the 2km and 5km courses organised by Barnes Fitness. This time around they were raising money for Katie’s Legacy, which is part of the British Triathlon Foundation Trust.

Ellie Gosling from Barnes Fitness said: “the event was a great success despite a fresh chill in the air. Just under 600 people took part in the two events dressed as Santa’s!!”

Katie’s Legacy remembers Katie Henderson a triathlete who died in a car accident in 2015. The money raised through her legacy has enabled thousands of children in Reading to take part in triathlons for free at the Queen Anne’s School in Caversham.

Ellie added: “We hope to have raised just over £1500 for Katie’s Legacy, part of the Triathlon Trust.”

The Santa Dash hoped to help even more children experience her legacy and triathlon. For more information on Katie’s Legacy visit www.triathlontrust.org.
