A club in Reading that has become a staple in the town centre has launched a bid to let punters party later into the early hours of the morning.

Playlist Live provides non-stop live music to punters in Friar Street.

Since opening in November 2020, it has become a destination for groups enjoying a night out, with punters being allowed to make song requests for a live band to play.

Guests can also enjoy food, including brunch dish and bottomless drinks on Saturdays and dinners on Thursdays and Fridays.

Notably, all the drinks are glass bottles and cans only, with no drinks on draught at the bar.

Now, its owners want to keep the party going until later at night.

Playlist Live is currently open from 1.30pm to 1am on Saturdays, and 6pm to 1am on Thursdays and Fridays.

The owners have applied to keep regulated entertainment, which includes live music, alcohol and late night refreshments including food and soft drinks until 2am each night.

For the changes to be made, operating company Live Investments Ltd has had to submit a variation premises licence application to Reading Borough Council.

You can comment on the licensing application by emailing the council’s licensing team at licensing@reading.gov.uk.

A public consultation on the application runs until  Friday, May 24.

The venue is located at ground level at 108 Friar Street, which was previously occupied by the strip club Black Diamond.

Black Diamond moved its operations to the first floor, with the council approving a licensing application for Playlist Live in March 2020.
