An inquest into the death a father who died from Strep A and sepsis at Royal Berkshire Hospital is set to be held this week.
Michael Nye, 48, died on November 15 2022 during a national outbreak of Strep A that killed at least two children.
Deborah Nadel, a lawyer at Fieldfisher, representing the family, said that the family has concerns over the care Michael received at the hospital and is looking for answers as to why he died.
Lawyers representing Mr Nye’s family say significant failings have been identified at Royal Berks’ handling of his treatment.
Just one A&E consultant was allegedly in charge of 175 patients on the night that Mr Nye died. Royal Berks Hospital has been contacted for comment.
The inquest will be heard at Reading Coroner’s Court on Thursday, January 18, by coroner Alison McCormick.
