Reading car enthusiasts could be at risk of having their vehicle seized as Thames Valley Police issued warnings at a Japanese car meet this week.

Hundreds attended the car meet at Reading Gate retail park, on Tuesday night (April 18).

The monthly event, held on the third Tuesday of the month, sees hundreds people attending to admire vehicles.

On a social media post, a Thames Valley Police spokesperson said: "NHPT worked with Roads policing to ensure safety at the Japanese car meet. Plain clothes officers were in attendance. Several people will be receiving Section 59 warnings in the post.

"Thank you to those attendees who acted within the law and were respectful to local residents."

A Section 59 warning being the 'seizure of a motor vehicle', typically given for using a vehicle to cause alarm, distress or annoyance to members of the public.

It is common for the police to attend the event to manage safety and ensure all the cars are roadworthy.
