Hundreds showed off their cars at a large car meet this week.

On Tuesday night (March 21) the Reading Japanese Car Meet was held.

The meet-up is a monthly event which sees people from all around the area coming together to admire vehicles.

It is common for the police to attend to ensure the event is kept safe and all the cars are legal and roadworthy.

A Thames Valley Police spokesperson who attended this week's event said: "Thank you to those who attended the Reading Jap Meet at Reading Gate Retail Park last night and behaved showing off your cars.

"We appreciate the fact the majority arrived, parked up and then chatted and viewed other's cars.

"Sadly, there were a few that decided to arrive who bought the tone down with their daft exhaust systems.

"We did what we could to make sure all was safe on the roads for other road users and the 'fans' who decided to line the A33 outside the car park wanting to film cars leaving.

"Safety is paramount. The last thing we want is for something to go wrong and someone is injured."
