A Danish songwriter  who has made his name working with country stars in Nashville has made his own contribution to keeping up morale during the COVID-19 crisis by penning an inspiring song from his home near Slough.

Stefan Mork and his wife Charlotte Christensen, 42, are living in Stoke Poges, 'locked down' like everyone else with their daughters - twins Selma and Ellen, five and Vera, eight.

Charlotte is a celebrated cinematographer on major films like The Girl on the Train and Far from the Madding Crowd. She recently completed shooting her first film as a fully fledged director for Disney, Black Narcissus at Pinewood Studios.

The pair met when studying at the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield.

The idea for an inspiring song came to Stefan when the lockdown started, while Charlotte was busy editing her film in her studio at home.

Stefan explained: "It came really quickly.

"Leonard Cohen once said if he knew where good songs came from he would go there more often.

"The situation is bad everywhere now but bad situations often inspire songs and this one inspired my song Rise.

"I worked with a producer in Denmark called Lars Andresen. I recorded the song and sent it to him on i-phone. I had played acoustic guitar here in England - he added the drums and electric guitar over there.

"Then I realised it needed a film to go with it."

He contacted his friend art director Tim Browning - who has worked on Bond and Star Wars films at Pinewood.

Tim's daughter Lyra features in the film having her (legally allowed) exercise run, photographed from above by a drone - which also captures amazing shots of a deserted and eerie Taplow.

Lyra contributed some of her amazing drawings for the film and Stefan sings his song Rise in front of a bonfire in his garden.

Film and stage star Gemma Arterton - the star of Charlotte's film - appears, along with Karen Bryson, Rosie Cavaliero and Sofie Graaboel plus celebrated friends of Charlotte and Stefan in Denmark and local people here, all filmed rising their arms to the sky to celebrate hope for the future.
