'ARMED police' carried out a raid at a property in Reading and have arrested 11 people.

It comes as part of a police response to reports of someone having an offensive weapon in public.

Nearby residents spotted the team of 'armed officers' scouring garage roofs and gardens in Coley Park .

It happened on Sunday, March 22, close to 11pm.

One person tweeted: "What looks to be armed police searching the garage roofs and gardens on Wensley Road by the high rise flats in Coley Park now."

Pictures also show officers scouring the area late at night around garages in the area.

Thames Valley Police today confirmed that officers carried out a raid on a property in Wensley Road.

As a result, officers arrested 11 people following to warrant.

A TVP spokeswoman said: "10 men and one woman were arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.

"Eight men have been released on bail until April 17.

"Two men and one woman have been released on bail until April 19."
