Bracknell's Harmans Water library to become new shop

The News revealed designs for 300 homes and a primary school in the Warfield countryside.

Proposals for a new business to open up next to Aldi at this town’s former Waitrose were also unveiled.

These plans are still being decided -- but we’ve found five more interesting applications given the go-ahead or thrown out by Bracknell Forest Council (BFC) planning chiefs in the last week.

A new shop at Harmans Water Library (planning reference: 19/01057/FUL)

The News revealed the shop plans for the disused library back in December 2019.

Council bosses closed the site in March 2019 and relocated the facilities to the ground floor of Harmans Water Community Centre.

Planning chiefs have now made a decision on these plans.

The library will become a shop after BFC said yes to the proposal, although few details exist about what business will be moving in at the site.

What we do know is three new jobs could be created at the new shop, according to a planning statement.

Refusal of a detached carport in Winkfield (20/00067/FUL)

BFC’s planning department chucked out this application for a garage at Little Brook in Winkfield.

Homeowners were hoping the carport would accompany two news houses being built following planning permission being given for them in 2018.

But planning experts said no to the design because they considered it to be inappropriate development in the greenbelt which could harm the countryside.

A new phone pole in Bracknell (20/00060/RTD)

Phone network giant EE wants to install a 20-metre high monopole at Vigar Way in Bracknell.

Three antennas, two dishes and associated equipment will also go up after BFC approved this application.

The erection of the pole means 4G mobile coverage will be available in an area where EE claims there has been a gap in their services.

Barn conversion in Binfield (19/00439/FUL)

Popes Farm managers want to turn a barn into a three-bedroom home at their Murrell Hill Lane site.

This comes after developers got the all-clear to build 53 houses on the land here in 2018.

They also asked BFC for permission to make changes to the parking area for 13 of the flats at the site and to provide a new cycle store.

It’s good news for the applicants after council planning chiefs said yes to the designs.

Five trees to be chopped down in Binfield (20/00049/TR5)

Two trees have already been cut down at a site on Parkham Mead in Binfield.

Three more trees are now allowed to be chopped down after BFC gave homeowners permission to go ahead with works.

One protected tree needed to be cut down after developing a large crack making it lean towards the property.
