CHILDREN are encouraged to immerse themselves in the world of books with a bunch of exciting activities next month.

Libraries across Bracknell Forest will be taking part in World Book Day to celebrate a love for reading through a national book token scheme.

Crowthorne and Sandhurst libraries are opening celebrations on Saturday, February 29, with a free all-day treasure hunt with prizes.

Little ones can take part in a variety of free activities at the Bracknell Central Library, with a fun treasure hunt, quizzes, reading recommendations and a book sale all day long.

Ascot Heath, Binfield and Whitegrove Libraries will host a treasure hunt and a best fancy-dress competition (Binfield and Whitegrove only).

From 3.30pm to 4.30pm, Birch Hill and Harmans Water Libraries invite children to take part in a treasure hunt with prizes for the winner and puzzles (£1 per child - dressing up is most welcome).

Keen scientists can take learn about the wonders of science from March 6-15 it’s the British Science Week.

Since it’s never too early to introduce scientific concepts, Bracknell Central Library has organised a science storytime, including stories and activities, for under 5 years old (10-10.45am) on Saturday 7th March, followed by a science club taster for older children (6-11 years old) from 11am to 12 noon.

The ticket is £1.50 for the science storytime and £2 for the science club taster and booking is recommended.

All week, Crowthorne and Sandhurst Libraries will open a free Science Zone, where children can experiment, complete puzzles and take part in the official British Science Week poster competition.
