Entries are now open and competitors can sign up through the website or via the official Sonning Facebook page.

Lorraine Sellwood, race director at Sonning 10K, said: “Hosting the first ever run last year was a huge success – more successful than we could have ever imagined.

"It was amazing to see so many different people come to Sonning and run in the event.

"It’s due to their support that we’re able to organise it for a second year.

"We’re looking forward to it being bigger and better than last year!”

The 5K and 10K runs will start at 9.30am, whilst the Kids Fun Run will start at 9am.

Runners start at Berkshire County Sports Club, and pass through Sonning – including the River Thames, The Bull Inn and Reading Blue Coat School – finally finishing where they set off.

Stephen Ridley, former Great Britain triathlete, and a competitor in last year’s race said: “I’m local to Sonning, so I’m fortunate enough to use this route regularly when I’m training.

"Last year’s event was one of my favourites to compete in and I’m sure it will live up to expectations again!”

All competitors will receive a medal on completion of the race and 10k and 5k runners will also get a complimentary hog roast.
