Victims receive a call from a person saying fraudsters have used their person details to subscribe to an Amazon Prime subscription, and are instructed to press 1if they would like to cancel the purchase.

When the victim does this, they are automatically connected to criminals pretending to be Amazon customer service representatives who attempt to remotely access the victim's computer in order to steal personal and financial details.

Thames Valley Police has said people should refuse unusual requests for personal and financial information.
