A DISTRESSED son is worried his "mum is going to die" if she doesn't come back home from Spain.

Lesley Dale from Crowthorne flew out to visit her friend in Malaga on Wednesday, January 29 but started to feel unwell on the plane.

The 57-year-old was escorted off the plane in a wheelchair but was left alone in the lobby and a cleaning lady happened to find Lesley alone on the floor, Kris Dale explained.

She is currently being treated in a hospital in Spain for viral meningitis, but her son describes the care under Spanish doctors as "primitive".

Kris Dale said: "If she stays any longer out there she will die.

"There's a level of neglect and the care is quite primitive. She is left alone a lot of the time and they don't want to work on things like speech therapy to help her recovery.

"The language barrier is also difficult and communication is is quite hard so we don't really know fully what is going on but she is not in a good way."

Lesley suffers with Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) which is a disorder of the immune system that causes an increased risk of blood clots which means she has to take special medication.

Kris told the News that he doesn't know why his mum didn't take out medical insurance as he can't speak to her, but needs to raise £21,000 to pay for a medevac plane to fly her back to the UK.

He added: "We have been in contact with Guy’s & St Thomas’ hospitals — they have been incredibly helpful and my auntie who works at Frimley Park Hospital has already secured a bed for her. We just need to get her home.

"The meningitis is slightly better but because of her other illness, it is difficult to explain to the Spanish doctors, so she isn't receiving the best care and needs her specialist medication back at the hospitals in London."

The husband explained how he cannot keep visiting because it is adding up in cost.

Mr Dale said: "I feel really stressed, angry and it is hard to cope with it all but I have to carry on for my family."

The online go fund me page has raised £6,530 but still needs to raise thousands more to reach its target.
