CHILDREN ran through a muddy obstacle course in colourful clothing to raise money for a very worthy cause.
St Francis Catholic Primary School in Ascot collected £3,305 for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC), which helps to support children across the UK.
Students asked for sponsorships from friends and family and Year 3 raised the most money —which to their delight — allowed them to bring in gadgets for the afternoon.
This follows after an NSPCC officer visited the school in January to deliver an assembly on the different types of child abuse, how to report it, and to promote Childline.
Pupils also learned about how to use the helpline in times when they are feeling worried or anxious about something and want to discuss this with a safe adult outside of the home.
Through this, they decided to raise money for the NSPCC so they can carry out their vital work in helping children.
The thousands of pounds raised from the school will see £5 pay for one Childline call, £500 for a school education event and £1,500 pays to train a counsellor and support them through their first year of qualification, during which they will answer about 250 calls from children who need help.
