A WORRIED son is hoping to raise £21,000 to bring her critically-ill mum back home from Spain.

Lesley Dale from Crowthorne flew from Gatwick to Malaga on Wednesday, January 29 to see her friend when she started feeling ill on the plane.

She was escorted off the plane in a wheelchair and rushed to hospital where she was diagnosed with viral meningitis.

However, the 57-year-old also suffers with Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) which is a disorder of the immune system that causes an increased risk of blood clots and means she has to take special medication.

Her son Kris quickly set up a gofundme page so the family can afford to pay for a medical plane, to fly her back to the UK so she can get expert health care in London.

Mr Dale said: "The meningitis is slightly better but because of her other illness, it is difficult to explain to the Spanish doctors, so she isn't receiving the best care.

"We just need her to come home. I feel so worried about her and as soon as I found out she was ill I got the first flight out on the Friday just so I could be with her, she's my only blood relation."

Kris explained how his business is starting to have an impact due to him being out in Spain and it is taking a toll on his wife as she is currently pregnant.

He added: "I feel overwhelmed by the support and people wishing us well.

"But we really need to get her home, the language barrier is so hard and she needs better care than she's getting."

The family need to pay £21,000 for a medevac, medical evacuation plane to transport Lesley overseas to the UK but the costs are not financially viable.

So far, the gofundme page has raised £3,345 but needs thousands more to hit the target.
