Children from Lindfield Pre-School Nursery and Chiltern District Council Members took part in a ceremonial ‘ground breaking’ at the Chiltern Lifestyle Centre site on January 23.
Cllr Liz Walsh, Portfolio Holder for Healthy Communities and Cllr Mike Stannard, Deputy Leader of Chiltern District Council, visited the site in Amersham with Pia Goldman, Noah Hardcastle, Lola Barnes, Leo Favell, the children's parents and nursery staff, to formally mark the start of the project.
Work has been progressing rapidly since constructors BAM UK moved onto the site two months ago.
The Chiltern Lifestyle Centre is due to open at the end of 2021 and will be a state of the art leisure and community facility for Amersham and surrounding areas.
Facilities will include an 8-lane swimming pool, a diving/teaching pool, children's splash pad area, sports hall, squash courts, soft play, climbing wall, library, café, exercise studios (fitness, hot yoga and spinning), gym, spa, community centre and more.
