A READING care home has celebrated its 11th anniversary with residents, team members and guests.

Sunrise of Sonning care home, which provides personalised nursing care, assisted living and dementia care to older people, hosted an 11th anniversary celebration for residents, their relatives and team members.

The luxury care home, rated 'Outstanding' by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), has a multi-award-winning dining team - led by Head Chef, Adriano Carvalho.

The home was decorated with orange balloons and bunting, and everyone enjoyed a special colour coordinated cake that was topped with fresh strawberries, as well as plenty of champagne.

All were able to reminisce on their experiences at Sunrise of Sonning, while toasting to many more years.

One resident said: “It was lovely to think that all staff worked together to put on this successful celebration for everyone.

"The teamwork of the staff is very obvious in this community.”

The entertainment was pianist Leonard Burtenshaw, who played a mix of both classical and pop music for guests to enjoy.

Sunrise of Sonning invites performers to come and entertain residents on a Saturday and Sunday every week, alongside many other physically and intellectually stimulating activities organised by their dedicated Activities Coordinator.

A daughter of a resident said: “The team always look after our mum and us above and beyond.

"You can always see and feel the happiness in the community and the team are always joyful."

Carmela Magbitang, General Manager at Sunrise of Sonning, added: “The afternoon was the perfect way to celebrate 11 wonderful years of Sunrise of Sonning.

"The food was incredible, and we all had a brilliant time.

"Here's to many more years of this great community that we have established."
