AN ADVOCATE group for assisted dying are to host a meeting in Bracknell.

The organisation, named 'Dignity in Dying', will feature a talk from Sara Fenton, who visited Swiss euthanasia clinic and right-to-die advocates Dignitas, with her terminally ill husband.

Dignity in Dying openly admit they are campaigning for a change in UK law to decriminalise assisted dying, and the event will be the first time the organisation hold an event in the Bracknell area.

A spokesman for Dignity in Dying said: "We campaign to change the law on assisted dying for terminally ill, mentally competent adults.

"We believe that dying people should be able to control the manner and timing of their death.

"We do not campaign to legalise assisted dying for people who are not dying, known as assisted suicide.

"We also do not campaign to change the law to allow doctors to end the lives of their patients, known as euthanasia.

"We also do not campaign to legalise assisted dying for people who do not have capacity to make the decision for themselves."

The free event will be held at Terrace Room, South Hill Park, Ringmead on January 25 from 10:30am to 12:30pm.
