Fingers are crossed that a section of Slough High Street devastated when debris crashed down during Tuesday's gale will reopen today - allowing businesses to start trading again after two days.

The final piece of debris which fell after weather proofing equipment was blown off the roof of the flats in the High Street was removed about 11pm last night.

At first light today a crew put up scaffolding outside the affected building so that a team could check for any debris that still needed clearing and assess any further risk.

A final decision will be made early tomorrow about whether it is safe for the area of High Street affected to reopen.
