YOU can enjoy a fun-packed FREE weekend in town as the Magical Christmas in Reading programme continues.

On Saturday (December 14) there’s a huge draw for little ones as the Jollypop Ice Princesses appear on Broad Street for stage shows, singalongs and meet and greets.

From 10am until 4pm they will be around the Primark, John Lewis and M&S area to enchant youngsters.

Sunday proves it’s Super Sunday with three free events you can just turn up to happening around town.

In Broad Street and outside the Three Guineas by the station catch a glimpse into a Victorian festive season.

The Christmas Time Travellers’ Professor Weft and Ms Warp will perambulate and play carols in their HG Wells style contraption.

They will be in Broad Street for performances at 12-12.30pm and 1-1.30pm.

Then at 2-2.30pm they will be at the Three Guineas.

Meanwhile, strictly for adults, The Blagrave Arms hosts What Box’s Merry Christmas Cabaret with super sassy drag queen Sue Panover.

Go and see her cabaret and the first 10 through the doors for the start of the show at 5pm will get a free roast dinner.

The X-rated Xmas show lasts until 6pm.

Then you have time to catch The Yoko Mainwaring Experience, a four-piece comedy trio playing madcap songs from 7-8pm at the Three Guineas.

Bobby Lonergan of Reading BID, which along with Reading Borough Council has funded the Magical Reading Christmas programme said: “This weekend shows that the programme caters for both children and adults – just like Christmas itself!”
