TREE top heights and scary rope swings has bagged an adventure playground in Bracknell a top award.

Go Ape won an award for being the best 'attraction for school trips in the UK at the 2019 School Travel Awards.

The prestigious awards ceremony recognises people and companies behind creating inspiring school trips and teachers unanimously voted for the popular forest adventure playground as the worthy winner of the top award.

The Bracknell Go Ape is known for its tree top ropes course and rope swings and has been noted as a setting to improve mental wellbeing by being in the great outdoors.

Sharron Scott, head of the education team at Go Ape, said: "It is an honour to be recognised by schools who have had an amazing outdoor learning experience during a school trip to Go Ape.

"We are hugely passionate about improving the mental health and wellbeing of young people by getting them out in the great outdoors and challenging themselves through the Go Ape experience; the results are genuinely incredible to see."

The adventure course is located in Swinley Forest and is one of 34 dotted across the country encouraging people to test their skills and fear of heights.

Go Ape was also founded in 2001 by ex-army tank commander Tristram Mayhew and wife Rebecca.

The park in Bracknell was praised for providing something different for students to learn outside of the classroom.

Keeley Rodgers, editor of School Travel Organiser magazine, added: “Getting children learning away from the confines of the school classroom has never been so important and there hasn’t been a better time for schools to explore all the different experiences out there, including Go Ape.

"They can have a hugely positive impact on the next generation.”
