A VULNERABLE 80-year-old has been targeted with threatening letters and accusations of being a scammer but police say she is not.

A personal plea to the perpetrator has come from police to stop the "victimisation" for happening further.

The 80-year-old woman has been inundated with threatening letters accusing her of being a scammer and has suffered criminal damage to her home in Wokingham Road, Bracknell.

Police believe the perpetrator thinks the woman is the actual personal carrying out the scam.

In actual fact, the "vulnerable" woman has herself been a victim of the same national fraud scam.

Investigating Officer PC John Daltrey, based at Bracknell Police Station, said: "We would urge this person to firstly stop committing these crimes, and also come forward so that we can resolve this matter.

"If anyone knows who this person is then please contact us with the information to help us protect this vulnerable lady. You can contact us on 101, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting crime ref 43190344654.

"We would also like to reassure the community that these are isolated crimes and there is no risk to the wider public".
