SECTIONS of the M4 motorway will be closed overnight tonight in both directions as part of the smart motorways improvement works.

The closures comes as part of the work to upgrade the m4 with an extra lane between junctions 4 at Hayes to junction 12 at Theale.

The M4 westbound carriageway will be closed tonight on Monday, November 18 between junctions 10 Wokingham and 11 Reading.

Diversion routes will be in place for drivers on the A329M, A3290 and B3270.

Sliproads will be closed overnight this week at multiple junctions as works are carried out.

On Tuesday, the M4 will be closed overnight between junction 8/9 Maidenhead and 10 Wokingham.

Diversions will be in place for the A404M, A4, A3290 and A329M.

The M4 eastbound carriageway will also be closed overnight on Wednesday, November 20 between junction 10 and 8/9.

A 50mph speed restriction is still in place in stretches of the M4.
