DEBATES about controversial plans hit the headlines this week.

Parents were angry about a proposal for a new car wash next to a special needs school and neighbours were split over plans for a new pizza takeaway in Great Hollands.

Here are five other interesting plans decided by Bracknell Forest Council (BFC) this week.

More flats at Winchester House (Planning number: 18/01060/FUL)

Bracknell News:

Developers wanted to add 27 more apartments to their town centre high-rise block.

The proposal was brought to the planning committee by Cllr Thomas Parker, who questioned “whether what was originally approved (in 2014) was still in front of us”.

Some neighbours had raised concerns about splitting three-bedroom apartments into one and two-bedroom flats would mean the new homes would be too small.

Despite these questions, councillors approved the plan and the new flats will be added.

Three new homes in Bracknell (19/00023/FUL)

Bracknell News:

New houses will be added on land to the back of Warfield Road and Sherring Close despite 27 objections from neighbours.

Objectors were worried the new homes would be out of character with the rest of the area, there would be more traffic and noise, and badgers could be harmed by the building work.

But planning bosses gave the proposal the green light at a meeting on Thursday (November 14).

The homes will be built on existing garden land and councillor Michael Gbadebo said: “I'm supporting this because it looks like a very nice development. It is sensible and I think it is going to be three very nice family homes."

Two homes near a school in Bracknell (19/00359/OUT)

Bracknell News:

Planning bosses said yes to designs for two new homes on Ranelagh Drive last week.

The existing home and garage will make way for the new houses despite concerns from neighbours about the safety of children travelling to and from Ranelagh School.

Objectors said construction vehicles endanger children and parents as the road is a pedestrian access route for those coming and going from the school.

But councillors gave the green light to the outline application, meaning more information about the scheme is set to come.
New yoga studio in Crowthorne (19/00808/FUL)

Bracknell News:

Crowthorne will get a new yoga studio on its high street after planning chiefs nodded through shopowner’s plans.

Units 203 and 205 are to become a retail unit and a leisure unit respectively, with the new yoga studio occupying the latter.

Bracknell News:

The shop on the left-hand side will be primarily used for retail purposes but a small treatment room will also be added to this unit.

The studio would be open daily from 8 am to 9 pm but once a week a yoga class would begin at 6 am.

No new nursery in Sandhurst (18/00338/3)

Planning bosses didn’t decide on this plan - instead, applicants withdrew it.

Few details are known about this proposal, but the News understands developers wanted to convert a dwelling into a nursery.

Bracknell News:

The switch would have been joined by single-storey extensions to the rear and side of a property on Owlsmoor Road.
