A CAR park will be going under construction for a second time after the previous builders damaged the site and grass.

Pyes Acre car park in Sandhurst will be closed on November 30 for three weeks for resurfacing works to be carried out.

Works will be carried out due to the issues with construction by the original contractors, Dawnus.

Councillor John Porter, chairman of Sandhurst Town Council’s leisure committee, said:

“The car park was originally designed for occasional use by residents but usage has been much higher than anticipated.

“Sandhurst Town Council have sought legal action against Dawnus after they failed to take responsibility for the issues experienced, however, they have now gone into liquidation.

Sandhurst Town Council found several problems with the works, such as an issue which prevents grass growth.

Originally, it was designed so the grass would grow over the plastic crates to form a natural surface on top of the structured base.

However, the issues with the membrane has resulted in the plastic crates breaking.

Cllr Porter added: "The council will therefore oversee the upgrade of the car park, keeping the existing sub-structure in place, but replacing the surface.

“The work will be paid for using Community Infrastructure Levy funding from developers via Bracknell Forest Council.”
