Results were collected from every single postcode across the UK and RG40 Wokingham and Bracknell shows that there is a decrease of 5,785 cars on the roads.

There were 24,273 drivers in 2014 in comparison to just 18,488 in 2019, showing a fall of 23.8 per cent.

West Berkshire has less cars on the roads than five years ago, with a decrease of 46.2 per cent.

Erin Yurday, chief executive of NimbleFins, said: "If it feels like there are more cars on the road now than a few years ago, you're probably right.

"93 per cent of all postcodes in England have more licenced cars now than five years ago, impacting rush hour queues, parking shortages and air quality for local residents.

However, in the past five years, the number of cars in the South East increased from 4,829,728 to 5,194,646.

That means there are an extra 364,918 cars on the road now, which is 7.6 per cent more than in 2014.

Erin added: "While we applaud the installation of electric car charging points throughout the country, more needs to be done to offset the rising number of polluting cars if we're going to tackle carbon emissions."
