PRINCESS SQUARE’S refurbishment has begun as £30 million of investment work gets underway.
The first stage of the refurbishment, which started on Monday, involves work on the centre’s down escalators.
This area has been closed off by white borders while work takes place.

A multi-million pound revamp of the area was signed off by regeneration bosses in March.
Shoppers will see new escalators, lift lobbies, and an ‘impressive’ ceiling space with feature lighting when refurbishments finish in 2020.
The new ‘modern, light and bright space’ will also have new seating and toilets added.
Rob Morris, general manager at The Lexicon, said: “The plans to transform Princess Square are incredibly exciting and demonstrate the ongoing investment being committed to the town centre.

“The works will further build on the success of The Lexicon, widening the appeal of the town, increasing footfall, attracting new shoppers and providing a further boost for the local economy.”
