A CARE provider baked cakes and enjoyed teas and coffees to raise money for Macmillan's Coffee Morning.

Bluebird Care in Wokingham, Reading, Bracknell, Windsor and Maidenhead raised £894 for the cancer charity at Charvil Village Hall in Twyford.

Families and friends were invited to bake cakes and donate to the coffee morning, which will help finance medical and practical support for people living with cancer.

Kerry Brooker, Care Manager for Bluebird Care Reading & Wokingham, said: “Bluebird Care is a huge supporter of Macmillan Cancer Support Charity and we ensure we hold a coffee morning every year.

"We always encourage our employees to get involved in campaigns to help raise money for fantastic and worthy causes and the generosity of our staff and customers make sure we raise as much money as we can”.

Each year, the charity hosts the world's biggest coffee morning and people host their owns to raise money for the cause.

Since starting in 1990, Macmillan Coffee morning has raised over £165.5 million.

Ferne Heselden, care manager for Bluebird Care Windsor & Maidenhead, added: "It is so lovely Bluebird Care are able to support Macmillan and their fundraising efforts as it is a cause that is close to many of our carers and customers' hearts.

"Not only is it a great cause, it is fantastic for our customers to come and join in with the fun. Bluebird Care have been tackling loneliness over the past 18 months, so to be able to get some many customers out and about socialising has been amazing".
