HUNDREDS of neighbours came together to put their aprons on and bake off for a very worthy cause.

Bellway Homes housing development in Amen Corner, Binfield hosted a bake-off event for the community with 100 residents showing off their culinary skills.

The bake-off challenge took place outside the sales office on September 21 and all donations made for a slice of cake contributed towards Macmillan cancer support.

Greg Allsop, sales and marketing director for Bellway North London, said: “We were really pleased to join forces with our colleagues at Ashberry Homes next door to host the charity bake-off challenge.

"This was an exciting community event which helped bring together everyone who has already settled into their new homes at either Amen Corner or Popeswood Grange, where we’re already seeing a lovely community feel emerging.

“We’d like to thank everyone who attended the bake-off, tasted some cakes and had some fun, all while raising money for MacMillan which is a truly worthy cause.”

The competition was judged by Sarah Howells, headteacher at King's Academy Oakwood and the school's head of primary, Jacqueline Tate.
