Fire crews were called to two separate large fires yesterday evening on two fields in Bucks.

Bucks Fire and Rescue received a call at around 7.41pm of two large unattended bonfires in a field in Askett Lane, Askett.

Two fire engines from Thame and one from Wheatley were the first to respond to the scene.

Relief crews were called in and another fire engine from Aylesbury attended the scene throughout the night and into the morning.

Three main jets, a hose reel and a water tanker were used to extinguish the blaze.

Thirty-six minutes prior to this call, Bucks Fire and Rescue received a call relating to a grass fire affecting nine acres of land in Newton Longville.

More than 30 firefighters, including crews from Broughton, Great Holm, Newport Pagnell, Buckingham and Woburn attended the scene.

Firefighters used two main jets, water backpacks and beaters to put out the fire.
