A TV star best known for her role in CBBC's Tracy Beaker is coming to Bracknell to help launch a charity appeal.

Dani Harmer will be meeting shoppers in Princes Square, The Lexicon on Wednesday, September 11 to support Thames Hospices' Raise the Roof appeal.

The charity have launched its most "ambitious" public fundraising appeal yet to help raise £3 million to complete the build of a new state-of-the-art hospice for the community.

Debbie Raven, Thames Hospice chief executive, said: “We are thrilled to have the support of Dani Harmer who will be joining us in Bracknell together with Mayor Pauline McKenzie to celebrate and help spread the word about our appeal to raise the final £3 million we need to complete your new hospice.

"Please come and support us and let’s Raise the Roof together.”

The Bracknell celebration is one of a few towns taking part in the fundraising event, where the likes of Sue Holderness and Tim Brooke-Taylor and Ross Kemp will be launching the campaign in Maidenhead and Wokingham.

Thames Hospice is raising money to help families get the specialist care they need by opening a new space to keep up with demand.

Construction has already started on the new £22 million hospice in Bray Lake, which will provide urgent hospice care and support to even more families.

The new hospice will have 28 private inpatient rooms with their own bathrooms and a place for loved ones to stay overnight.

There will also be a dedicated day Therapy centre and a brand new education centre and library.
