A RESIDENT took a trip down memory lane after she relived her experience of being a showgirl.

Madge who is 96-years-old, lives at Larkland House Care Home in Ascot and the team arranged a surprise tap dance session to relive her past.

The elderly woman who has dementia, lived in New York for over 30 years and worked in theatre as a dancer.

Staff members at the care home often hear her talk about the days of 'glitz and glamour' and how she misses living life on the stage.

Maggie Candy, care home manager at Larkland House, said: "Madge is a very interesting lady and always speaks about how much she loved showbiz, so we are really excited to bring that part of her life back to her after all these years."

Katie Lewis, who is a professional London-based tap dancer and part of Care UK's Wishing tree initiative led a dance session for Madge.

Maggie added: “Madge really enjoyed watching Katie dance and sharing stories about all the theatres she performed in.

"It was a really lovely afternoon and it was great to see how engaged she was during the performance and hear her reminiscing about such fond memories.”
