A FLAG raising ceremony to mark the start of Armed Forces Day has been held at Sandhurst Memorial Park.
Guests and members of the public were invited to attend the event, which was organized by Sandhurst Town Council with support from Bracknell Forest Council.
Armed Forces Day an annual national campaign that gives everyone the opportunity to show their support for the Armed Forces past and present, which includes current serving troops, service families, reservists, veterans and cadets.
Councillor McKenzie, Mayor of the borough of Bracknell Forest, said: “It's an honour to be a part of the Armed Forces Day flag raising event with members of our armed forces who represent the very best that this country stands for.
“In the year of the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings, I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you on behalf of the borough of Bracknell Forest for everything the armed forces do and have done. I would also like to thank the school children and members of the public who also attended to honour our armed forces.”
Speeches were also given by Cllr Pauline McKenzie, Mayor of the borough of Bracknell Forest, Councillor Paul Bettison, leader of the council and Armed Forces Champion, Chris Boryer, station commander for Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.
Armed Forces Day is on Saturday, June 29.
