THOUSANDS flocked to taste different ales and ciders at this years Bracknell Ale and Cider festival on Sunday.

The warm weather was a delight for more than 3,000 people who turned up to consume different beers and ciders.

Now in its ninth year, the festival featured dozens of locally crafted ales, ciders, gins and wines as well as deliciously smelling food stalls and live bands performing on the stages.

Competitive guests even got the chance to take part in a game of soccer darts and try to beat their previous scores.

Tom Canning, festival organiser said: "It was an absolutely incredible day - a sell out success and Bracknell drunk us dry.

"We got away with the weather as well, there were a few very light showers but overall it held off and the feedback so far has been 'bring on next year."

Next year, the organisers are hoping to make it bigger and better as its the festivals 10th birthday.

In the first year the festival took place, only 80 attendees at Bracknell Town Football Club turned up.

Each year the festival aims to raise funds for Bracknell Rugby club.

Ian Wilson, chairman of the club, said: "We really couldn't do it without our volunteers, they gave up their time throughout Saturday to Monday setting up the festival and putting it away - all for a bacon roll and pint of beer.

"The festival is huge for us and we use the money to invest in the upkeep of the club.

"We want to be part of the community, but sadly not many people have heard of us so we try to engage with people.

"Each year the festival is growing in numbers and it is probably looking more like 4,000 people that showed up this weekend so it really is amazing."
