A DEDICATED member of a skydiving team has received a prestigious award for her contribution to her time in the air after winning an array of medals.

Vana Parker from Crowthorne is part of the NFTO, British National 4-way formation skydiving team and they received The Prince of Wales Cup at an awards ceremony on Wednesday, May 16.

The team have made a huge contribution to the sport including winning four silver medals and one gold at an international level.

Ms Parker is one of the teams longest serving member and has been competing in the sport for 25 years completing more than 7,600 skydives.

On receiving the award Vana, said: “We are delighted to have our hard work, commitment and achievements recognised by the Royal Aero Club.

“The NFTO momentum just keeps on growing, and we are thrilled to be ambassadors for skydiving around the globe, in particular encouraging increased female participation into our wonderful airsport.”

The other team members come from all around the UK and regularly meet up for training sessions at drop zones and wind tunnels.

Tony Butler, chief operating officer at the British Parachute Association, added: “We are delighted that NFTO have been recognised at this year’s Royal Aero Club Awards.

“They have demonstrated that Team GB can compete at the very highest levels of the sport internationally, their achievements and dedication are an inspiration to British Skydiving.”

The teams impressive set of achievements include a 2013 World Cup Bronze and European Silver, 2016 World Championships Bronze, 2016 World Cup of Indoor Skydiving Bronze, 2018 European Indoor Championships Silver, 2018 World Championships Silver and a 2018 World Cup of Indoor Skydiving Gold.

The British National 4-way formation skydiving team will be going to Arizona, in October as part of Team GB to compete in the 22nd FAI World Cup of Formation Skydiving.
