The Ascot Volunteer Bureau (AVB) who help the elderly have benefited from a community grant from the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.
Each year the Royal Borough awards community grants to a range of sports clubs, care centres and borough events and a total of £300,000 will be given to charities and good causes during this year and across 2020 in the first funding round.
AVB were awarded £1000 to help with their daily target of providing a volunteer driver service for elderly people who are unable to use public transport.
Gordon Anderson, honorary treasurer of AVB, said: “All of this work is carrier out entirely by volunteers.
“We rely solely on grants and donations from local organisations and individuals, like the Royal Borough, without which we could not continue to operate.”
This year 51 grants were awarded and next year the money will be used for a range of things from day-to-day running costs to new equipment or training.
