BRACKNELL politician Dr Phillip Lee presented a cheque for £400 to the local Samaritans branch.

The MP was representing Berkshire Business Network when he presented the funds, which will help people across Bracknell, Wokingham and Ascot.

He was accompanied by Katie Dover from his constituency office, who has previously participated in the Samaritans Run.

After passing on the donation, Dr Lee said: “The Berkshire Business Network recognises the extremely valuable work that Samaritans do and we are very pleased to be able to meet with and support the local branch.

“I am also in awe of the hundreds of people who run Bracknell Samaritans Run either 5k or 10k each year to help raise funds for this wonderful organisation.”

The 38th instalment of the Bracknell Samaritans Run will take place on June 29 and entries are now open.

It is a well-established charity event, offering competitors the chance to take on two different race routes for a good cause.

There is also a Teddy Bear Kids Run, giving children an opportunity to tackle a 1km route with Big Teddy Sam.

Nick Tuggey, a volunteer at Samaritans, added “It costs around £25,000 a year to maintain our branch.

"We are most grateful to Dr Lee, as we rely heavily on donations like this to continue providing the Samaritan’s service to the local community.”

There is a new medal for 2019 and all proceeds from the day will go towards Bracknell & Districts Samaritans.
